A multi-national technology company operating in more than 100 countries needed to improve information-sharing between employees and provide more effective ways for teams to collaborate. In addition to making it easier for workers to search for data, maintain interaction among groups, and localize content as needed, the company needed to ensure that any information exchange and collaboration occurred within a secure environment.Technology Solution
A WrightRobbins expert designed, built and deployed a global information management Intranet portal based on the SharePoint 2007 application platform. This solution was set up as a company-wide portal as well as the ability to allow subsidiaries to develop their own localized team sub-sites in the local language. Across the company, teams gained enhanced tools for information sharing, team collaboration, business unit planning, and project management, with the benefit of Single Sign On (SSO) using Active Directory to easily access multiple applications with one user name and password. Users are also able to make information available as needed outside of the organization, allowing them to grant strategic alliance partners and vendors with access to critical information within all necessary business regulatory and compliance requirements. In addition, the portal was structured to standardize the way in which information was presented to employees, through use of a global indexing solution to drive advanced Enterprise Search capabilities in the Portal.Results:
- 20,000 + employees and associated vendors and partners have been successfully on-boarded into the portal.
- Employees across the globe have gained easier access to business critical information, with the capability to set up appropriate levels of access as needed.
